Psychotherapist
LICSW, LCSW, LCSW-C

I believe each person has the innate capacity to heal, and that a trusting relationship with a therapist can be a support in that journey. Therapy should be a collaborative process, where you feel comfortable asking questions, can build clarity, and gain momentum toward your goals. My work and training is grounded in attachment theory and in understanding how connection with others impacts us across the life span. I also see the ways that mindfulness, creative expression, and movement can also be powerful tools for healing and aim to integrate them into my practice. Above all, I strive to provide a space where you feel truly seen and can share openly.

I live in Washington, D.C. with my family, and as a mom of two I understand the challenges that come with embracing your new identity while also not forgetting who you are outside of being a parent.

MY FOCUS

I specialize in perinatal mental health with a focus on perinatal anxiety. I am a survivor of Hyperemesis Gravidarum (x2) and bring a personal perspective in working with pregnant people who are having the similar experience of challenging health issues while managing the changes that occur during pregnancy.

I am also a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (RPCV) and understand the added stress that moving and transition, especially internationally, can add to life.

I am trained in and have experience providing gender affirming care and therapy for the LGBTQIA+ community. Hablo español y puedo ofrecer servicios en su idioma preferido.

Walking With You

I’m here to support as you build insight–reminding you to have compassion for yourself as you uncover unhelpful patterns that may have protected you in the past but are no longer serving your needs in the present.

MY EXPERIENCE

I earned my Master’s Degree in Social Work at Catholic University in 2013 and my Bachelor’s in Spanish and Religious Studies from the University of Richmond in 2006. I have provided therapy to children, adolescents, and adults in outpatient clinics, community mental health clinics, schools, and private practice settings since 2013.

I am currently a clinician at Georgetown Medstar University Hospital working in the Department of Psychiatry outpatient clinic as well as working within the school-based Wellbeing in School Environments (WISE) program.

I have completed training with Postpartum Support International (PSI) as well as have training in Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT-A) for the perinatal period. I am a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor ™ (RPT-S) and a Foundational Level Theraplay® Practitioner.

I enjoy working with caregivers who need support, and my training in Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) and Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) grounds me in that work.

Cultivate Your Inner Strength

I’m here to support you in your journey as you recognize your own ability to heal and grow. In the words of the poet Mary Oliver, “Joy is not made to be a crumb.” and I hope in my therapy practice to assist you in recognizing and fully embracing the joyful moments even in the midst of seasons of challenge.
